This app rocks, the free version is very generous. It adds a layer of protection and features not seen in Find my iPhone. Also you can have several devices linked on the account. This app really shines on macbooks as it remains hidden and can snap photos and lock people out, give position reports . Great application, download it
Have it for all my apple devices.
A lot of polish has gone into the behind the scenes for this app so it works across devices. The UX is good, simple, and does its one job well.
I have Prey for my laptop too so I can track my phone from my laptop and my laptop from my phone! Best app ever!
There are limitations with Find My iPhone... we all know it. The solution is Prey. Get it, keep it on. Done
Good stuff
It doesnt support a wacom table, it doesnt support multiple screens. Hides the mouse after computer beeing locked for hours, disable itself if you restart the computer and who knows what else is wring with this!?
Unfortunately, I had a lot of faith and trust in what Prey advertised and bought a plan to protect up to 10 devices. I had been paying them every month for nearly 2 years when the time I needed it most it didnt work for me. If you go on your computer and sign in and check what the status is on your registered devices and it will give you a date and time when it last checked in on your device(s) and unless you just opened the app recently it more than likely will not show a date and time that is recent. I had gone to New York for work and I had 2 laptops 2 iPads my iPhone 6S all of which had Prey installed on them. I used all of my devices everyday. While getting out of a cab my phone fell out of my pocket and into the back of the cab and the cab driver took off too quickly for me to catch it. I went back to where I was staying and went to the Prey website on my laptop and signed in. When I went to look at my Devices I was shocked to see that the last time Prey had connected with my devices had been 2 weeks earlier when I was still in California even though all my devices were connected to the internet everyday and were used everyday. Not one devices location out of 5 had been updated in over 2 weeks. My lost phone wasnt registering at all. It kept saying its location was in California. So I began tracking with Find my IPhone. Unfortunately someone took my when they got out of the cab. I knew what building they were in. I could the general area where it was in the building. If I had the feature that Prey advertises about being able to take pictures I might have been able to identify the person by by asking the doorman and handing the info over to the police to get my iphone back. Instead I had to pay a deductible to get a new phone. The Prey team wasnt exactly helpful and after pointing out their platform simply did not work, since it continued not to update my devices locations unless I purposely signed on to their website. One customer service person said I might want to find another company since Prey doesnt seem to work for me after I had been sending screenshots of Prey updating every few days as opposed to minutes or hours even and only because I signed in. There was not much attempt at helping me or trying to make up for their product not working when I really needed it to. Instead I was getting emails from their billing customer service person saying they needed a new form of payment after I had my bank not make anymore payments to them and denied their next monthly payment. So I wrote him a letter explaining what had gone down and having discovered their platform was faulty and they were advertising and selling something they werent able to follow through with. The next correspondence from him was asking me for my monthly payment again. Not responding to anything I had written in the letter to him. Lol. They had every opportunity to try and make a bad situation for a paying customer who had been with them for a while and lost something valuable who had counted on their product to work like they said it would. I wish I could recommend them but after my experience both on a technological level and a customer service level I cant. They failed badly in both regards. So if you do choose to use them I would Pray that Prey works and that they fixed the major flaws in their platform and you never have to deal with customer service.
It is great software. I have it on all 3 of my computers. Thief Beware!!!
We had it and you took it away with the latest update
Not a warm fuzzy feeling when upon installing the app it suddenly without warning STEALS 2 rapid fire photos of the user via from cam. Whats that for? Some warning or explanation of that is BASIC for whats supposed to be a security app!
Works great in Windows. I think Apple app. policies degrade what the app. can do. Apple needs to loosen up. Paid good money for this phone and should be able to put apps on that do what I want.
A great app to use if you Lost your iPhone or Macbook. Works great. And its very simple.
I absolutely love this app an installed it on my phone and computer. But the app NEEDS functionality when the app is not running in the background on mobile platforms.
Actually works
I was excited to download and start using this app as a student of Information Security, but this app fell so far short of any expectations I had. Simply put it doesnt work. I initially installed this on my Windows laptop, and though it verified the installation, it could not identify or list my device, even after several attempts to uninstall and re-install. Next, I downloaded the mobile app. It did recognize my device this time, but the set up was extremely glitchy and still continues to send me notifications that I must turn on my notifications, which they are. Navigating the app is difficult and an extremely poor experience. I set my device to missing to test the functionality of the app, and what do you know... It didnt do anything besides geolocate the device which I can already do with the built-in Find My iPhone app. No reports were generated in a 24 hour period. You couldnt pay me to use this app ever again, especially when you are giving it permission to use your camera and location at all times even when not running the app. Id give it -5 Stars if it was an option.
Especially the photo of the thief taken without him knowing. My phone was stolen recently and the police wouldnt do anything because most of the time the thief will say they wont know anything about it
Very very good app for a free version. The mobile device recovery data is not as complete as laptop, likely due to platform limitations. No issues installing or using. But it would be silly NOT to use this free tool as an additional security precaution.
This app keeps track of several of my most valuable electronics across all platforms in a simple and reliable way. I enjoy the peace of mind knowing Im secure and able to find and recover them if theyre taken from me.
